Kate is a specialist in historic buildings, combining her role in the Centre with leading an MA programme and supervising PhD students in the Department of Archaeology and the Centre for Medieval Studies. She has a particular interest in late medieval and early modern communal buildings and churches and has recently completed a volume on the wall paintings of Pickering Church (North Yorkshire). More broadly she is interested in how we tell the stories of historic buildings and people, and how we ensure that they are preserved for future generations to enjoy. She is a Trustee of The Yorkshire Historic Churches Trust and York Civic Trust and a Fellow of the Society of Antiquaries.
