C&C host Summer Seminar for US academics

Christianity and Culture are hosting 16 US academics on a four-week US National Endowment for the Humanities Summer Seminar at the University of York until July 5th.

The seminar is to explore how and why works of art and architecture from 1200-1600 engaged in dramatic physical and emotional interaction and uses churches, cathedrals and works of art in York to do this.

During this period radically new ways of stimulating the emotions of devotees were developed and the Seminar is examining how greater participation by the laity prompted the development of new kinds of devotional activities, spaces, and accessories.
